St. Johns wins sixth straight

NEW YORK (AP) Sean Evans scored 18 points to lead St. John's to its sixth straight victory, 77-59 over Bethune-Cookman on Sunday.
D.J. Kennedy added 15 points, Paris Horne had 11 and Malik Boothe 10 for the Red Storm (8-1), whose winning streak has all been at Carnesecca Arena.

C.J. Reed had 15 points for the Wildcats (4-5), who had won three straight. Jarrell Thomas added 13 points and Kene Anusionwu had 11 for Bethune-Cookman.
Reed had five points in the Wildcats' 8-0 run that gave them a 12-9 lead. Horne hit a 3-pointer that keyed the Red Storm's 10-0 run that made it 19-12 and gave them the lead for good.
Horne had two 3s and Evans hit two jumpers in St. John's 17-2 run that opened the second half and put it ahead 52-30 with 15:01 to play.
It was the first meeting between the schools.
The Holiday Festival is a pre-Christmas affair this season, on Dec. 20 and 21 at Madison Square Garden. The Red Storm faces Marist at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, following a 2 p.m. match-up between Virginia Tech and Columbia. The consolation and championship games will be played on Sunday, at noon and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
