QUEENS, N.Y.– Fresh off a dominant 100-53 victory over Bethune-Cookman in the team’s season-opener on Friday night, the St. John’s Red Storm will be back in action at Carnesecca Arena on Monday evening, playing host to Binghamton at 6:30 p.m.

The Red Storm claimed victory on Friday night thanks to the team’s best shooting performance in nearly three years, as the Johnnies sank 62.3 percent (33-53) of their tries from the floor, including an 11-of-22 showing from beyond the arc. Prior to Friday, the last time the Red Storm had shot 60 percent or better from the field was on Dec. 7, 2013, during a 104-58 victory over Fordham at Madison Square Garden. In addition, the Red Storm assisted on 21 of its 33 made baskets against the Wildcats.

Four Red Storm players reached double figures on Friday night, led by Federico Mussini’s game-high 20 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Marcus LoVett shined in his St. John’s debut, registering 19 points and dishing out seven assists while surrendering just one turnover. Malik Ellison and Yankuba Sima also posted 11 points apiece.

Tariq Owens also impressed during his first game in a St. John’s uniform, as the Tennessee transfer tallied nine points, five blocks and four rebounds in just 13 minutes of game action.

The Binghamton Bearcats enter Monday’s contest following a win in their season opener on Friday night, downing Cornell, 68-62, thanks to 23 points from sophomore guard J.C. Show. This will be the first meeting between the Red Storm and the Bearcats, who were picked to finish fourth in the America East Preseason Poll, in the history of the two programs.

Monday’s contest will serve as a campus-site game of The Battle 4 Atlantis, which will be held from Nov. 23-25 at Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

After taking on the Bearcats, the Red Storm will have just one more game remaining before traveling to Atlantis for one of the nation’s premier in-season tournaments, a Friday night date with Minnesota in Minneapolis as part of the 2016 Gavitt Tipfff Games.
