QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's and women's basketball teams hosted their annual Red Storm Tip-Off celebration at Carnesecca Arena on Friday night, officially signaling the start of the 2022-23 basketball seasons.

The evening featured various student contests and performances from the highly touted Red Storm cheer and dance squads before the capacity crowd was introduced to the 2022-23 men's and women's basketball rosters. Each team then dazzled during a pair of instrasquad scrimmages to the delight of the Carnesecca Arena faithful.

Both Mike Anderson and Joe Tartamella addressed the crowd, thanking them for their support and urging them to bring energy all season long as the Red Storm's sixth man.

To cap the night, Los Angeles-based rapper Blxst took to the court and performed for more then 30 minutes.

The Red Storm men's and women's basketball teams will officially tip off the 2022-23 season on Monday, Nov. 7. The women's squad will take on Monmouth at 1 p.m. before the men's team takes on Merrimack starting at 6:45 p.m.
