STJ Knocks Knights Down

NEW YORK (AP) Justin Brownlee made a layup with 4 seconds left to give St. John's a 58-56 win over Rutgers on Wednesday night.
The Red Storm (13-8, 5-5 Big East) led 50-40 with 6:52 left, but the Scarlet Knights chipped away until Robert Lumpkins hit three consecutive 3-pointers to tie it at 56 with 18 seconds left.

After Brownlee's layup, Rutgers' Dane Miller missed a 3 at the buzzer.
Dwight Hardy scored 15 points to pace St. John's, which has won two in a row after a three-game skid.
Rutgers (12-10, 3-7), which has lost three straight and five of its last seven, was paced by Jonathan Mitchell with 21 points, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range.
The Red Storm opened with a 9-0 run and led by as many as 11 in the first half before Rutgers tied it at 31 at halftime.
The Scarlet Knights outshot St. John's from the field, 47.6 percent (20 of 42) to 36.7 percent (18 of 49).
