St. John’s Recruiting in Review (June)

The month of June was a hectic one for the St. John’s staff, balancing the tasks of filling out the 2017 recruiting class two months into the signing period with building and strengthening relationships with prospects in future classes. With no NCAA-Certified events in June for coaches to attend, getting kids to campus becomes a focal point.

Despite originally planning on holding an Elite Camp on campus, which attracted the top players in the New York area last year, St. John’s was still able to host multiple targets on unofficial visits while also sending out new offers to rising talents in the 2019 class.

Below review notable events for the Red Storm over the last month:

A two-year run in Queens ended with the 6-foot-2 guard, who shot 43 percent from 3 last season, inking a contract with a professional club in Europe, becoming the second offseason defection via the international pro ranks.

Shortly after exiting the Florida State recruiting class, Trimble found a home in New York City, joining Marvin Clark, who played for the same high school and AAU team as the three-star recruit.

June 23-25: Luther Muhammad official visit

The New Jersey star allocated his first official visit to St. John’s. The Johnnies are hopeful to wrap up his recruitment in the coming weeks after a long pursuit of the gritty two-way guard that can step in and compete immediately for playing time.
