"Quincy is an outstanding individual with a bright future in whatever he chooses to pursue," said Lavin. "He has been a valued member of our basketball family. He leaves St. John's University in good academic standing."
Roberts played in 41 games over the past two and a half seasons. He met the criteria for a medical redshirt for the 2009-10 season, resulting from migraines suffered early in the year, and participated in four games. He has seen action in four of the Red Storm's nine contests in 2010-11, averaging 1.0 points per outing and 7.8 minutes.
A combination guard, Roberts averaged 5.0 ppg as a true freshman in 2008-09, playing in 33 of 34 games and drawing nine starts at the point guard position.
"It has been a good opportunity and a great experience at St. John's," said Roberts. "I enjoyed everything during my time there, and I'm sorry things didn't work out, but I'll always be a part of St. John's and what they're building."
