BRONX, NY - The Tru-Ballaz Pre-HS Classic is another of the top tournaments that gives a glimpse at what the upcoming NYC high school season will look like.

On Monday, NYCHoops.net was at Frederic Douglass Academy III to check out the action as four public schools faced off.

Wings Academy runs over W.H.E.E.L.S., 71-67

Foday Sankaray and point guard Desure Buie powered Wings Academy in the first quarter giving them a 23-17 first quarter lead. 6'7" Tyshawn Myles cut that lead to 4pts with a nice spin move in the post and with 5:04, Emile Lewis hit a jumper which pulled W.H.E.E.L.S. to within one.

The lead changed hands as Myles began to do damage inside. 4:07 remaining in the third and W.H.E.E.L.S. was ahead 46-41.

Eddy Polanco drained a trey and with 6:28, W.H.E.E.L.S. was up 4. Buie countered with a 3-ball and with 5:06, Randy Corporan put Wings back in front with a matching trifecta.

Down 58-57, Lewis scored in transition putting W.H.E.E.L.S. back up. The lead changed and with 3:42 the game was knotted at 62.

Wings changed their tactic and started to gain momentum and with 2:51 led 65-62 as big man Ray Pender became aggressive on the boards.

Down 5 with under a minute, W.H.E.E.L.S. blinked, became rushed and firing and missing from the arc.. Wings would hold in to win by 4.

Sankaray led Wings Academy with a game high 25 points. Buie added 15 points. Myles led W.H.E.E.L.S. with 21 points. Polanco contributed 17
