Hoops: Ann Arbor felt like home to Ricky Doyle
Michigan coaches seemed to make Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot big man Ricky Doyle (6-9, 235) a priority after seeing him play a number of times, both in open gyms and in person. Doyle lost much of his junior year due to a stress fracture in his foot, playing only eight games, but that didn't keep the Michigan coaches from offering on Doyle's recent visit with his family.
The 6-9, 235 standout, meanwhile, had a pretty good idea that U-M was going to feel like the place for him given how the recruiting process - one that had just gotten started, since Doyle had flown under the radar after spending the summer with his high school team rather than an AAU squad - had gone.
"I was expecting it to be great, but it was more than I expected," Doyle said. "It was amazing. That was my first time at Michigan, and the game was jaw dropping. The fans are so crazy - I'd never seen anything like it. I'd taken an unofficial to Miami, and they have a great school there, but Michigan just felt right for me."
